At 10 months, Freddie is at a stage where he’s continually curious and wants to explore everything around him – be it in his pram, on his smarTrike or just passing by! Most evenings before bedtime we take him for a stroll down our local cycle path just two minutes from home and explore together. I find the fresh air can help tire my children out more, or at least I hope it does! As part of the #smartDiscoveries project, we were recently sent the smarTrike 5-in-1 recliner infinity from Smart Products International for review. Given our daily and weekend walks, I agreed and since receiving it Freddie has enjoyed many adventures with his smarTrike. Assembly was relatively straightforward with clear instructions that took less than 30 minutes despite my forgetting to set a timer for an exact countdown timer.
The smarTrike operates smoothly, similar to pushing a stroller. The trike features five stages that you can adjust; these are;
Stage one; For the early stages, your child can enjoy sitting comfortably in an adjustable, tilting recliner seat – perfect for short naps when baby gets tired from exploring all around! Parents have full control with detachable steering handles providing full parental oversight.
Stage Two;
Once again under your control, your baby can now sit securely in their high-backed seat.
Stage three;
Once baby has reached 18 months or so, they can take control of the trike without parental assistance, but still explore freely to build confidence, balance, and motor skills in preparation for the next stage.
Stage four; Once your child reaches 24 months, training begins! By folding in the footrest and teaching them how to pedal independently.
Stage five; To complete their trike experience at 30 months, children can transition into independent riding by removing the parent handle and starting their trike independently.
