Our Experience at Bluestone, Wales

Follow my Instagram to know that my family had an exciting family break last week. We were lucky enough to be invited back for another stay at Bluestone; my partner couldn’t take off work at that time so a friend came with. You can read my previous post here for more info on my first trip back then with just me and friend joining in, you can read more of that journey here. This time my partner joined in as we prepared ourselves for any weather – rain or shine; purchasing waterproof clothing and shoes as well as walking shoes since we planned on walking a lot during our stay.

Bluestone offers an assortment of lodges to accommodate couples, smaller and larger families alike. The largest lodge accommodates 14 people while we stayed at Gateholm Lodge which sleeps 6 people and featured an upside-down design which our girls absolutely adored! Downstairs there was one double room with an en-suite, two twin bedrooms and one bathroom featuring a walk-in shower. Upstairs there was a spacious all-in-one living area, dining area and kitchen space that offered incredible window views; every lodge included both a high chair and travel cot for guest use. If there are stairs, each unit comes equipped with a stair gate – perfect for families with young children who are unsafe on stairs. In the living area there is a modern flat screen TV, coffee table and two 2-seater sofas; in the kitchen is everything necessary, such as cups, glasses and cutlery needed in an ideal kitchen environment; simply purchase food at one of two main supermarkets located about 10 minutes from your vacation resort – as we did.

The girls were beyond delighted to return to the Adventure Centre again! It’s an enormous indoor play area designed specifically for kids of all ages; activities include wall climbing which requires payment but many other fun things are free, like mini golfing or playing in the play area. There’s even an arcade there – where most of their time was spent! Freddie particularly enjoyed himself playing in the ball pit! Plus there’s always the cafe upstairs for coffee or lunch!

Bluestone offers many indoor and outdoor activities each day. When you check-in you will receive a pack that lists them all based on age range and price; most activities start from PS7.50. We participated in two activities the last time we went and it was wonderful; their effort is truly astounding. On this visit however we chose the free light experience, which our girls loved going back to multiple times throughout both days and evening.
