It seems like a week has gone by in a flash. The girls had a boring summer last year because we spent most of it indoors, as I was still nursing Freddie. This summer has been much better than the last. We have done a lot, even though I am usually tearing my hair out at the end of the day or in the early morning. Before the girls left for their summer school holidays, I told myself I couldn’t wait to see them again. Mainly because there was no rush to get to school and Freddie would go to sleep at 6-7am, and then wake up at 8am. This didn’t happen all the time. I thought that I would be able to get a little lie most mornings. But I haven’t gotten one since the kids left school. We’ve all been up and downstairs either by 6.15am or 7am. Most mornings, we’ve been out the door by 9. It has improved my mood as well as the mood of the children. It feels like mornings drag after breakfast because Freddie does not go to sleep until 10.30am. We’ve had a lot of good weather, so we’ve gone for walks in the morning. It rained a lot on a couple of days. We have been very busy on the other days. We went to the train on Tuesday with Mam, my partner. The girls loved it. The girls had never ridden a big train, so were very excited. The journey from Porthmadog was only 20 minutes long, so it wasn’t too bad. We had lunch in Pwllheli and then went shopping to buy the girls each a little treat. We then took the train back to Porthmadog, where we had ice creams before returning home. I’ve made more plans to take the girls on a train. It’s been a lovely day and I have two trips planned with the girls in the next few weeks. I just need to figure out other routes that I can do by myself.
My Dad was over on Wednesday. I love catching up with him when he visits because I don’t get to see him nearly as much as I would like. It’s time to start driving and pass my test. He offered to take care of all three children for me on Friday afternoon, so that I could get some work done. I complained about not having enough time in the day. I also struggled with fatigue in the evenings. It was nice that he did.
A friend of mine and mother of my nephew came over on Thursday, and the girls were very excited. It was great having them. The girls loved having them both over. She is definitely the favorite aunty of my girls!
Friday was different. It rained on and off throughout the day. We were able to go for a short walk in the early morning before the rain started. My dad came around 2pm to take the kids until 6pm. He took them to the house of my Nain, Taid and their friends. I got a lot done, which was great.
On a Saturday, my partner worked again and Mia was with her dad. Elliw, Freddie, and I went to meet a friend and her children. It was great to catch up with them after a long absence. We went on a short walk along the cycle track and then went to eat ice cream at the nearby cafe. The weather was perfect and the company was great. The kids played with us for about an hour while we enjoyed a cup of tea.
That Saturday night, my partner had the entire evening, the following morning, and the next day to ourselves. It was strange, but also nice. Just the two of us went for a stroll and a meal while Freddie and Elliw stayed at their Nain’s for the night. Mia stayed with her Dad until Sunday evening. It was Freddie’s first night apart from us, and he did fine. After all my worrying, I was delighted he settled down. You can find out more about our date here.
Sunday was pretty boring. As I had an entire morning without kids, I decided to use it as my workday. Since I haven’t worked a whole day, I decided to make it Sunday. After Freddie had finished his lunch and nap, my partner picked up the kids in the early afternoon. Mia returned late in the afternoon, and that’s it. It was a pretty boring day at home. Next week, I’ll make sure to take them for a walk.
Charge your camera and go out. I forgot to use my camera, so I’ve been taking photos with my phone.
