First Week of Summer Break

It seems like a week has gone by in a flash. The girls had a boring summer last year because we spent most of it indoors, as I was still nursing Freddie. This summer has been much better than the last. We have done a lot, even though I am usually tearing my hair out at the end of the day or in the morning. Some days, however, have been so wonderful that all three children have behaved well. Before the girls broke up for the school summer holidays I remember telling myself that I can’t wait until school is over. Mainly because I didn’t have to rush around for the school run and at that time Freddie would normally go back to sleep around 6-7am and wake up around 8am – this didn’t happen every morning, though. I thought I would get a small lie in most mornings, but I haven’t had one since they broke up from school. In fact, we have all been getting up and downstairs by either 6.15 am or 7am. We’ve also been out of the house by 9 most mornings. This has helped my mood and the kids’ moods. As Freddie doesn’t go down for a nap until 10.30am, it feels like the hours just drag in the mornings after we have had breakfast. So, we have been going out for early morning walks and it’s been lovely.
The weather has been great. It rained a lot on one or two occasions. We have been very busy on the other days. We went to the train on Tuesday with Mam, my partner. The girls loved it. The girls had never been in a big train, so were very excited. The journey from Porthmadog was only 20 minutes long, so it wasn’t too bad. We had lunch in Pwllheli and then went shopping to buy the girls each a little treat. We then took the train back to Porthmadog, where we had ice creams before returning home. I’ve made more plans for a train trip with the girls after that lovely day. I have two train trips scheduled for the next few weeks. I need to plan other routes that I can do with my kids alone.
