Did you know this week is Big Energy Saving Week? Research shows that millions of households have failed to switch energy providers for six years, at an estimated cost of PS1,500 each! As the mother of three small children myself, these figures have shook me, and unfortunately we’re one of them; but think of all of the things you could have accomplished with an extra PS1,500 sitting comfortably in your pockets – instead.
Ofgem have recently released figures which show that over one-third of UK households, or 9 million in total, failed to switch gas or electricity providers between 2012 and 2017. Most were young families with multiple children; anyone who knows the cost associated with raising children knows it can be costly paying for everything – food shopping, clothing and keeping on top of house bills can become overwhelming at times. We often try budgeting with weekly or monthly food shop trips as an attempt at saving money; instead we should also compare prices between our gas and electricity provider providers in order to save more.
Citizens Advice’s energy price comparison tool could be just what’s needed to save big bucks. Their website lets you compare Gas, Electric or both prices and displays how much you could save by switching providers; I tested out my own gas provider with it and saw I’d save over PS94 by switching! Plus it only takes seconds of effort!
